Matt Comeau for Fiend BMX: Doggy Style

FINALLY.

After 4 and a half years since 'Maple of my Eye', Canada's Fiend hook-up Matt Comeau has returned to your phone screen in the form of a full-length video part pieced together by the homie Ian Fleming (who also produced the above-mentioned part).

I almost feel compelled to describe this through a tautology, it is deserving of praise heaped upon praise. But I won't. I will however note that there is a sense of the inevitable being eclipsed by this project, insofar as the astrological gods are at play, giving us earth dwelling bikers a reward for patience, a reward which was so obviously forthcoming, so predictably premium, an inverse of space and time is in fact likely. What the hell am I saying? To cut through the dribble, I'm attempting to say that this piece is so good and that it wasn't ever going to be anything else with the compounding effect of rider, filmer and project timeframe.

Ian & Matt, photo jacked from MCs socials

I have honestly been 'waiting', i.e. a thought in the back of my mind which comes up every so often, a wandering to when these two dudes might pull their fingers out of their bottoms and release another project. Matt was posting up short clips on social media, suggesting that biking is occurring, a calming reminder that hope exists. But it was never enough, I wanted, no, I needed more of these biker boys and their take on raw street riding.

The specifics of the video I'll avoid, you can watch and interpret for yourself. I will however note the first track, can't help myself, it made me hyped to see the artists name in the YouTube metadata. Boy, when it played as edited to the dudes riding, I was in that blissful place right before a hypnogogic state arrived, minus the sleep, rather eyes wide open taking in an assault of North America and a tincy bit of Europe. I'm talking Boldy James & The Alchemist, two of the tightest in modern hip hop. Boldy with the voice of an executive suite - smooth as can be, complimented by the production chops of Al, it is an incredible project and one that works exquisitely well to a burly Canadian misfit.

Another hijacking from MCs socials, scary way 180 down a 10 set as seen in the video

Anyway, enough words. I might try get in touch with these boys to get the background on this project. Keep an eye out for that. Until then, enjoy. You will likely need to watch this 3 times to meaningfully appreciate each clip.

To the moon.
