The Round Up - Episode 4

Welcome to Episode 4 of the LUXBMX Weekly Round-Up, where we present to you the very latest news, videos, sponsorship updates, competition/jam reports and all things awesome in the BMX world.

- Watch S&M's built different right now. Available for digital download here

Once again, this has been a busy week with lots to be hyped about. First off the bat, S&M Bikes - one of the most legitimate brands in BMX, have just announced and made available a new full-length video, ‘Built Different’. The idea was to celebrate the brands last 35 years of existence, showcasing its killer modern team as well as paying tribute to their roots. The video is a must-watch and features a killer part from friend of LUXBMX ‘Jimmah’. The video can be purchased here.

Speaking of Jimmah in videos, let’s not forget his ridiculously good part in the ‘Tear Da Club Up’ (TDCU) video, as produced by LUXBMXs Troy Charlesworth. The movie is still available for purchase here, so why not help a brother out, support your local BMX scene and contribute to future projects and premieres.

- Josh Dove sending it on the Urban Sport Fest course

Onto the competition front and for the very first time, Australia will host a round of the BMX Freestyle World Cup as directed by UCI (international BMX sporting bodies). Taking place on the Gold Coast as part of the ‘Urban Sport Fest’ over the 9-11 December (at the Gold Coast Sports Precinct in Carrara), the event will exist as the 3rd round of the 2022 UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup, offering mens and womens BMX Park. With a sizeable pro-purse and the opportunity to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics, this will be a hotly contested event. More information can be found here.

Further to the above, as a result of the UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup (and an indication of its importance), the Chinese BMX olympic team stopped by our Woolloongabba warehouse while they were in South East QLD. Being fans of LUXBMX, the Chinese crew were hyped to meet the staff and see the store in person. This kind of thing doesn’t happen very often so it was a memorable experience for all. Shouts for coming through and buying a bunch of LUXBMX apparel!

- Australian Brand Fast & Loose has the opportunity to collaborate with Vans, and they certainly didn't waste the opportunity. Pick up a set here.

Shifting to products, ‘Vans’ have just dropped a bunch of new shoes which are now up for sale, notably on the front page of the LUXBMX online store. ‘Vans’ are proving once again that their loyalty to supporting BMX is not wavering, delivering yet another collaboration through the ‘Fast and Loose’ crew which features a couple of LUXBMX riders, Josh Dove and Cody Pollard. Further increasing the massive LUXBMX ‘Vans’ range is the ‘Old Skool Pro’ and ‘BMX Pro SK8-Hi’ shoes. Take a peep at our new arrivals here.

Ending on a more local note, Glasshouse Mountains biker boy (and cousin of LUXBMX pro Cody Pollard) Cobe Hansen recently held a jam at his backyard trails. The beautiful red dirt of the Sunshine Coast hinterland was magnificently packed, the cicada effect was in full display and the day was enjoyed by a bunch of local shredders. It’s worth highlighting that these kinds of passion projects are what keeps the BMX stoke alive so if you can make it out to be part of the day, or work to hold your own jam, you absolutely should. Onya Cobe and co!

Rock ‘n roll my brothers.
