A BMX pump track bike suits the rider in terms of appropriate geometry as well as being set up to best match the conditions of a BMX bike pump track, which for the most part comprises a rigid build (i.e. no suspension, low frame standover height and tyres at the recommended PSI) to generate and maintain speed. A BMX pump track bike is intended for pump tracks as well as being suited to other terrains (i.e. dirt, skateparks, race track).
While a BMX bike pump track can vary depending on the builder and local authority, generally a pump track facility is a mini version of a BMX race track and thus can vary from approximately 300m2-1000m2 in area whilst maintaining a series of rollers and corners which are roughly 1-2m in height.
BMX pump tracks are named as such because they are centred around the rider using a pumping motion to generate and maintain speed around the facility, avoiding the need for pedalling. This basically means the rider assumes a crouched position, extending vertically as you ascend a rise (i.e. a roller or corner) and then compressing (or pumping) as the descent of the rise occurs. This motion pushes energy through your bike and into the ground, propelling the bike and rider forward.
A pump track is designed in such a way that various styles of bikes are able to be supported, including race bikes, kids bikes, retro and vintage bikes, big wheel/wheelie bikes and of course BMX bikes. In our view, the style of bike best suited for a pump track is a BMX bike which is set up to match the rider's size and ability.
Like many things in the digital era, pump track bikes can easily be ordered online by following a few simple steps.
We are here to make every stage of the experience as simple as possible for you. Of course, if you are in the Brisbane area, we will complete the final build for you free of charge for an in-store collection.
A pump BMX track is a continuous circuit that comprises a series of rollers, bermed corners and other features which can be ridden by bikes without pedalling, instead, the rider uses up and down movements to generate and hold speed. BMX pump tracks are intended to cater for the whole family and as such, are essentially a mixture of a BMX race track and a skatepark, thus providing a variety of riding opportunities for all abilities.
