Is a BMX bike good for racing?

A BMX bike generally refers to a freestyle BMX bike which is designed to handle the stress of big jumps and the difficulties of modern concrete skateparks, essentially to take the brunt of a more vertical assault. A racing bike however is designed to go fast and be ridden in a much smoother (generally horizontal) environment, requiring a lighter build and a range of nuanced differences such as clip-in pedals, carbon accessories as well as distinct geometry. As such, it is recommended that when racing, a race specific BMX bike be chosen. This will improve the experience and keep you stoked for longer!
