The ION TiXX: The Lightest Custom BMX We've Ever Built 🪶
The ION TiXX is the latest creation to roll fresh out of the LUXLAB, and this thing is built to shred the skatepark. At 8.2 kg it is one of the lightest bikes on our showroom floor, and it is ready to send it.
It's built around an ION AMP20 titanium frame, Ti20 titanium forks and ION titanium bars, backed up by a stack of lightweight parts. The ION brand has been steadily building its range, and we were stoked to bring it all together on this one-off 20 inch build.
The TiXX was the brainchild of Sean Gardner, who is as handy with a spanner as he is on the bike. Here's what he had to say:
"I wanted to build a wild transition bike using the ION titanium frame, bars and forks. I went through the warehouse and grabbed all the parts I would run, given the chance. Combining a few brands to make something truly one of a kind, then topping it off with some not-yet-in-production sample Spectre straight-pull hubs. This bike is ready to rip and will stand up to however many tailwhips are necessary for lift-off."
To balance out the already ridiculously light setup, we went with Tall Order Air alloy rims, gold Spectre titanium straight-pull spokes and a set of one-off Spectre prototype hubs. The result is a seriously dialled wheelset that weighs in at under 2 kg for the pair. These will roll for days!
We finished it off with a carefully picked mix of alloy and chromoly parts to bring the whole build together, landing at a ridiculously light 8.2 kg. The seat is Sean's own Colony Sigil signature, so this one really is his bike through and through.
If you're chasing something truly custom, seriously light and one of a kind, the ION TiXX is worth a closer look. Check it out below, or swing by the shop and get your hands on it.
