Description

Eclat built the Cortex TA for street, where bent front axles, bent bolts and chewed fork dropouts are just part of the deal. Instead of a bolt each side, a 14mm 4130 chromoly thru-axle passes through a chromoly centre sleeve and clamps the fork, so the load goes through the axle rather than the dropouts.

The shell is refined 6061-T6 alloy, drilled 36 hole with a narrow flange for better spoke clearance while grinding, and it runs two oversize sealed bearings borrowed from rear hub sizing. It takes two modern plastic pegs, comes with washers for adjustment and two nylon fibreglass hub guards, and weighs 382g with the axle. It only fits 14mm forks.

  • 14mm thru-axle front hub. The thru-axle runs a 14mm chromoly axle right through the fork, so you stop bending axles, bolts and dropouts.
  • Takes two plastic pegs. The 14mm thru-axle handles two modern plastic pegs and comes with washers so you can set the spacing.
  • Oversize sealed bearings. It uses two oversize rear hub bearings rather than front hub sizes, for a smoother roll and longer life.
  • Hub guards included. Two nylon fibreglass hub guards come in the box, so the hub is ready to grind out of the packet.
  • Narrow flange, 36 hole. The narrow flange gives better spoke clearance when you are grinding, and it is drilled 36 hole.
