Izaac Kennedy's Shock Comeback From Injury to Race This Weekend!

A new titanium collarbone for Izaac to match a new Chase Carbon ACT 2.0, plus his comeback from injury to be ready for this weekend's World Cup 🇺🇸

I have to admit, when Izaac Kennedy told me he had a new Chase ACT 2.0 and asked if we could build it up today(!) because in a couple of days he was flying out to the USA to race the last World Cups of the year, I was pretty sceptical he was ready, never mind the bike!

After all, 2026 has done nothing but beat him up, and just a few weeks ago his collarbone was in pieces from a training crash at Sleeman. Read on to check out his brand new rig, and watch his latest video below, where he explains how he came back so quickly.

Truth be told, Izaac is more than capable of building his bike. He has to do it every time he flies somewhere for a race. But this was a ground up build, meaning the wheels needed lacing, and then there are disc brakes involved, so yeah, best to bring it into the #LUXLAB and let Ev and Sean take care of it.

Clean Sheet Design

We were keen to check out the new Chase ACT 2.0 carbon frame, and it didn't disappoint! These frames have been a long time in the making, with Chase taking their time knowing how important it was to get this launch right, as other brands have quickly caught them up since the release of the ACT 1.2. That was a much revered frame, so the 2.0 had a lot to live up to.

The design is clean and modern. Gone are the v-brake mounts, replaced by a dedicated flat mount for the calliper that is incorporated wholly into the back end. Speaking of which, one of the much loved traits of the 1.2 has been carried through to the new frame: there is plenty of length in the dropout to give lots of flexibility for axle placement.

Longer Frames!

The ACT 2.0 has also been stretched out, so taller riders now have options in the Chase carbon frame. Izaac's running a Pro XXXL with a 22 inch top tube, but there are two frame sizes above this, with a 22.5 and a 23 inch frame available. Gone are the .25 inch increments, and in their place are these longer frames. This is something Chase definitely needed to do to stay ahead of the pack.

Hopefully LUX will be able to sort you out with a new 2.0 or RSP 6.0 frame shortly, but in the meantime, check out the latest complete bikes from the 2027 Chase range.

Another Injury and Setback for 2026

Izaac thought his year was over after his last crash, but in his latest video you'll follow him over the past few weeks and see his determination to return to racing. Watch him from a few days after demolishing his collarbone training at Sleeman, to getting back on the bike and getting the all clear from Dr Steve Andrews to race this year's final two rounds of the UCI World Cup in Florida this weekend.

Sleeman has certainly proved to be a bittersweet track for Izaac. It delivered his maiden World Cup win back in 2024, but 2026 has seen him punch the eject button more than a couple of times at this place.

I was right beside the triple into the first turn shooting practice at the World Champs when Izaac clashed with Ross Cullen, and I can tell you, that was one massive slam. How he came away from that with no broken bones is a minor miracle. Unfortunately he wasn't so lucky a few weeks later. But believe me when I say that in my 45+ years of racing, I don't think I've seen a tougher racer than Izaac! It's hard to get to the top, and it's even harder staying there.
