Description

The Colony Horizon 16 inch is a replacement alloy frame for smaller riders. It is built from 6061T6 alloy with a 15.9" top tube, an 11.25" rear end, a 75.0º head tube angle and a 71º seat tube angle, and it weighs 1.404kg.

It uses a Mid BB shell with 19mm bearings already pre-installed, a 1-1/8" integrated headset with holes for removable gyro tabs, u-brake mounts and 10mm micro dropouts. The 27.2mm seat tube is supplied with a seat clamp and a 25.4mm seat post shim.

Features

A 16 inch bike suits a rider of about 96 to 122cm, usually 4 to 7 years old, on a 16 to 16.5 inch top tube. It is the size most kids learn to ride properly on.

Sizes overlap on purpose, so personal preference comes into it. At this wheel size the top tube barely changes the fit: go by height, and check they can stand over the bike flat footed.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Between two wheel sizes? Go up. Kids grow into a bike far faster than they grow out of the fun.
They should be able to stand over the top tube with both feet flat on the ground.
