Description

The Whammo V2 is Craig Passero's heavily street focused frame, now with a shorter 12.9″ back end, a taller 5″ head tube and a bottom bracket raised to 11.8″. The taller head tube means fewer spacers and a cleaner setup, the shorter back end makes it more responsive, and the higher bottom bracket improves sprocket clearance when grinding.

The rest is tried and true from the first Whammo: butted ThermalX tubing, an integrated head tube and seat clamp, 14mm 4Q-baked dropouts and thread-on 990 brake mounts sold separately. It comes in 20.75″ and 21″ top tubes and weighs 2.12 kg.

Features

Shorter 12.9″ back end. Adjustable out to 13.5″, with the short setting making the frame more responsive under your feet.
Taller 5″ head tube. Fewer spacers under the stem gives a cleaner setup and gets the bars where you want them.
11.8″ bottom bracket. Raised to improve sprocket clearance when grinding, with an 8.85″ standover to swing a leg over.

Frames are sized by top tube length. Start with your height, then let riding style decide where in the range you land.

The height bands overlap on purpose. If you land in two of them, riding style breaks the tie: longer for flow, trails and transitions, shorter for technical street and park. Plenty of riders, pros included, deliberately ride longer than a chart suggests.

How to measure

Top tube is measured from the centre of the seat tube to the centre of the head tube, so it is not the length of the tube you can see. Measure your current frame that way and compare.

Size up for stability through trails and transitions.
Size down if you want the bike quick and twitchy for spins and grinds.
Top tube is fixed once you buy, but chainstay length, stem length, fork offset and bar position all change how the built bike feels.
