Description

The Speedco Velox Youth range is available in Junior, Expert, and Expert XL. Speedco has built upon the proven design of the Velox Pro frame and created a first class ticket straight to the podium for the young pocket rocket. Conceptually, the two frames look quite alike, but the features of the youth sizes are designed around the most important thing for the young and aspiring professional, minimal weight. A lighter, less rigid, less aggressive design of their older sibling, the Velox Youth are uncontested in the market today, period.

The Velox Youth frames feature a super clean 10mm dropout at the rear and same bad boy looks as its big brother Pro Velox frames that will destroy the comp's confidence when the lay eyes on your carbon race rig.

Features

  • Built on the Velox Pro design. Speedco based the Youth frames on the proven Velox Pro, so a young racer gets the same design thinking in a smaller size.
  • 0.88 kg for the Junior. The Youth range is designed around minimal weight, and the Junior is the lightest frame in it.
  • Clean 10mm rear dropout. A straight 10mm dropout keeps the back end simple and light instead of using the more complicated Pro frame system.
  • Junior race geometry. An 18.5" top tube, 10.6" bottom bracket height, 13.5" rear centre, a 70° seat tube angle and a 73° head tube angle.
  • Same look as the Pro frames. The Youth frames carry the styling of the bigger Velox Pro carbon frames, so the bike looks the part at the track.

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

  • Between two sizes and still growing? Take the larger size.
  • Racing gates and wanting the bike to turn faster? Take the smaller size.
  • Top tube is the number that actually changes the fit, so compare it against the bike they ride now.

Not sure? Send us their height and we will tell you what we would put them on.
