Description

The disc evolution continues as Stay Strong moves to the V5 version of their ever popular aluminium race frame series. The team behind this iconic brand know their race stuff and hundreds of racers around the world confirm this by taking out race wins and titles every weekend.

What makes these Stay Strong V5 frames special? From the Mini to the Pro XXXL the same attention to detail is applied in manufacturing these disc brake beauties. Starting with the tested and proven 6061 alloy tubing that is butted in various directions, Stay Strong have applied their years of knowledge and experience to the geometry of these frames. They run a little higher BB than other frames in this segment, pitching the rider a little further over the front of the bike on the gate. Well, that's our take on the specs.

With new colours and decals for the V5 series of frames, plus the deletion of brake mounts carries over from the V4 frames all adds up to a smooth looking premium aluminium frame

The "Pro" frames (including Cruiser) all run with a BB86 bottom bracket and a 10mm enclosed dropout, though there is an option to bump this up to a 15mm thru-bolt set up. The head tube on Pro frames are a tapered 1-1/8th to 1.5 adding to the stiffness of the front end. Run this with a 20mm axle and you're set for success.

With one of the best disc brake set up in the business, we'd definitely be thinking about setting up this frame with the 15mm thru-bolt to make wheel and gearing changes a piece of pi$$.

Features

Butted 6061 aluminium race frame. Tubing butted in various directions holds the Pro XL to 1600g, keeping a long Pro frame quick to pick up out of the gate.
Tapered 1-1/8" to 1.5" head tube. The larger lower bearing adds stiffness up front, so the steering stays precise. Pair it with a 20mm axle fork.
21.25" top tube, 15" chainstay. Full Pro XL length for taller riders, with a rear end long enough to keep the front wheel down under power.
10mm or 15mm thru-bolt rear. Enclosed dropouts take both, and the 15mm thru-bolt option makes wheel and gearing swaps a much faster job.
Disc post mount, 140mm rotor. Strong, consistent braking with the rim brake mounts deleted, so the frame stays clean and the build stays simple.
