Features

Pro geometry for first-timers. Academy builds entry-level completes with the geometry and spec usually reserved for pro-level BMX bikes, so riders new to BMX get a better experience right out of the gate.
Sealed bearing 9T cassette hub. Paired with a 25T sprocket for a 25/9 ratio, the Academy Origin helps your youngest ride as smoothly as their idols.
Sized for small riders. 140mm one-piece cranks, 7.0" rise bars at 23" wide and a forged alloy top load stem keep the reach and the pedal stroke short.
Hi-Ten frame, 16.0" top tube. Hi-Ten steel frame and tapered-leg fork with a 75.0° head angle, 11.25" rear end and 1-1/8" external headset.
Rear U-brake, 40 kg rider limit. Alloy U-brake with a right-hand alloy lever and slick cable, on a bike that is not designed for jumping and has a rider weight limit of 40 kg.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

A 16 inch bike suits a rider of about 96 to 122cm, usually 4 to 7 years old, on a 16 to 16.5 inch top tube. It is the size most kids learn to ride properly on.

Sizes overlap on purpose, so personal preference comes into it. At this wheel size the top tube barely changes the fit: go by height, and check they can stand over the bike flat footed.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Between two wheel sizes? Go up. Kids grow into a bike far faster than they grow out of the fun.
They should be able to stand over the top tube with both feet flat on the ground.
