This little shredder offers a shorter 18.5 inch top tube which is perfect for the shorter rider and three piece cranks for strength, a sealed bottom bracket and Sealed Bearing Rear Cassette Hub to help everything roll smoothly.

Why Buy A Recruit?

The Recruit is a 20 inch BMX bike, with a 18.5 TT Frame. This is a big selling market as it is where kids start in BMX. Rather than selling them a 16 inch or 18 inch BMX bike that they will outgrow, this 20 inch bike can stay with them until they need the extra length frame.

Features
  • Shorter 18.5" top tube. Sized for the shorter rider, so kids aged 9 to 14 can start on a proper 20-inch instead of outgrowing a 16 or 18 inch bike.
  • Tubular chromoly 3-piece cranks. 155mm tubular chromoly cranks give three piece strength where the bike takes the hardest hits.
  • Sealed BB and cassette hub. A sealed bearing mid bottom bracket and a sealed 9T rear cassette hub help everything roll smoothly.
  • 2.35" DRS Arrow tyres. 20 x 2.35" DRS Arrow tyres on 36-hole alloy wheels for plenty of rubber on the ground.
  • 7.25" bars on a 40mm stem. 7.25" rise hi-tensile bars on a 40mm alloy top load stem, with a Uni seat and post combo.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

  • Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
  • Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
  • Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Top tube is measured from the centre of the seat tube to the centre of the head tube, so it is not the same as the length of the tube you can see.

  • A 20 inch bike is the standard adult BMX and most riders end up there, so do not size a tall child down to a smaller wheel.
  • 22, 24 and 26 inch bikes are adult bikes with a bigger wheel, not bigger frames for taller riders.
  • Size up for stability through trails and transitions. Size down if you want the bike quick and twitchy for spins and grinds.
  • Top tube is fixed, but stem length, fork offset and bar position all shift how roomy the bike feels once you are on it.
