Description

Chase Bicycles have again knocked it right out of the park with their 2023 Edge range. Moving up in their 20 inch bike line up from the minis and juniors, you'll find the Chase Edge Expert. The last of the bikes on the "skinny tyres", the 2023 Chase Edge Expert bike is offered again in two colours and packs a punch coming spec'd straight from the factory with a disc brake and with what we predict will become the norm for braking. Your young racer will start out on the very best in performance with the frame on the brand's Edge Expert manufactured with the same hydroformed and triple butted tubing as the bigger bikes in the range, and includes features like enclosed dropouts. The part's list mirrors quality like that of its bigger brothers as well, with Chase Edge CroMo forks, Tioga PowerBlock 20 x 1-3/8th tyres, Insight chainring, grips and Chase Edge pivotal pro seat.

With dedicated race geometry and lightweight design, the Chase Expert race bike is just the ticket for the emerging racer moving up into the age class racing ranks and is biting at the bit to start sending gaps out there just like the big kids. Get ready to be tagging #winwithchase regularly as your racer enters the winning arena. All in all, this is one of the coolest, highest spec'd expert race bikes currently available on the market and will set up your young rider for a life of BMX racing on of the most developed complete expert race bikes to date.

By far one our best selling brands in 2022, we expect the 2023 Chase Edge models to sell just as quick as they are definitely one of the best club level race bikes out there. Bang for buck, it's hard to go past this expert bike.

Features

  • Disc brake straight from the factory. A 140mm rotor with a mechanical disc calliper and linear-pull lever comes stock, the setup we predict will become the norm for race braking.
  • Big-bike tubing, expert size. The 19.75" frame is triple butted hydroformed 6061 T6 alloy like the bigger bikes in the range, with enclosed rear dropouts and an integrated chain tensioner.
  • Full CrMo fork, tapered blades. Chase Edge Expert fork with a 1-1/8" steer tube and tapered blades, topped with a 6061 T6 alloy 50mm stem and 22.2mm Chase Edge bars at 5.75" rise.
  • 42 x 16 gearing, 165mm cranks. Chase Edge 3-piece alloy cranks with CrMo chainring bolts turn an Insight 42T ring into a 16T cog on a Euro sealed bottom bracket, a 54.88" gear.
  • Skinny tyres, light build. Tioga PowerBlock 20 x 1-3/8" tyres on Chase Edge 118 double wall rims and a sealed 3-pawl cassette hub, 8.47 kg without pedals.

Assembly information

Your race bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

  • Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
  • Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
  • Spin the rear wheel and check the rotor runs clear of the calliper
  • Check the brake and tyre pressure before the first ride

Disc brakes: keep your fingers off the rotor and pads, because oil from your skin contaminates the braking surface and takes the bite away. If the rotor rubs, loosen the two calliper bolts, squeeze the lever, then tighten them again with the lever held on. Bed the brake in with a few firm stops before you race it.

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm spanner for the pedals. Check your axle hardware, since race bikes vary between bolt-on nuts and a thru-axle.

Rather have it done? Ask us about extra assembly before you order, or any local bike shop can finish the build for a small fee.

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

  • Between two sizes and still growing? Take the larger size.
  • Racing gates and wanting the bike to turn faster? Take the smaller size.
  • Top tube is the number that actually changes the fit, so compare it against the bike they ride now.

Not sure? Send us their height and we will tell you what we would put them on.
