Description

With every subsequent year over the past 10 years, Chase BMX complete race bikes have become more and more dialled in, showing this company's experience at both the top level of BMX racing, and at the entry level.

The 2024 Chase Edge range of complete bikes offer the BMX racer that is at the beginning of their race journey a bike, that out of the box, can be taken to the track and sent off the gate with the confidence that it will handle anything that your local track will throw at you.

Chase draws upon the experience of their team riders to build a race bikes with Championship winning geometry frames and then upgrade them with some of the top parts brands in BMX racing, such as Tioga, KMC, Insight and more. The Chase Edge will give your young racer the edge over their competition and get on the way to #winwithChase like Izaac and Joris.

Some of the highlights of the Chase Edge bike include features like a disc specific race frame with Hydroformed & butted tubing, cable actuated disc brakes, integrated chain tensioner / disc brake mounting system, Tioga tyres, Insight Chain Ring, Triple Clutch System cassette hub, KMC Chain, and a Pivotal Seat and Seat Post. With 10 bike sizes offered, the Edge line up gives you a full range of size options for just about any racer.

For 2024, the Chase Edge range is our recommendation for riders just starting out with a few gate nights and training sessions at their local club, with the bike also totally tuned up for club and local racing. Cromoly forks and sealed bearings all round mean that the Edge range will be durable and maintenance kept to a minimum to give you more time out on the race track.

Features

  • Cable actuated disc brake. A 140mm rotor with Shimano B01S compatible pads holds power in the wet and takes rim wear out of the equation.
  • Disc specific race frame. Hydroformed, triple butted 6061 T6 alloy with enclosed rear dropouts and an integrated chain tensioner and disc mounting system.
  • Expert cockpit, 25.5" wide bars. Chase Edge chromoly bars with 5.75" rise on a 50mm stem and a 1-1/8" fork give a bigger racer leverage on the gate.
  • Geared 42x16 for the straight. A 54.88" ratio through an Insight alloy ring and KMC chain, with an 11" bottom bracket height for clearance.
  • Triple Clutch System cassette hub. Three pawls at triple angle engagement give 24 ratchet points, so power reaches the ground the moment the gate drops.

Assembly information

Your race bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

  • Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
  • Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
  • Spin the rear wheel and check the rotor runs clear of the calliper
  • Check the brake and tyre pressure before the first ride

Disc brakes: keep your fingers off the rotor and pads, because oil from your skin contaminates the braking surface and takes the bite away. If the rotor rubs, loosen the two calliper bolts, squeeze the lever, then tighten them again with the lever held on. Bed the brake in with a few firm stops before you race it.

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm spanner for the pedals. Check your axle hardware, since race bikes vary between bolt-on nuts and a thru-axle.

Rather have it done? Ask us about extra assembly before you order, or any local bike shop can finish the build for a small fee.

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

  • Between two sizes and still growing? Take the larger size.
  • Racing gates and wanting the bike to turn faster? Take the smaller size.
  • Top tube is the number that actually changes the fit, so compare it against the bike they ride now.

Not sure? Send us their height and we will tell you what we would put them on.
