The size marks the move to a standard BMX tyre size with Tioga Powerblocks (20 x 1.60 front and 20 x 1.40 rear), which are ideal for the emerging young rider that is really starting to push the limits hitting the bigger jumps out on the track. The 2023 Chase Edge Expert XL bike packs a punch coming spec'd straight from the factory with a disc brake and with what we predict will become the norm for braking. Your young racer will start out on the very best in performance with the frame on the brand's Edge Expert XL manufactured with the same hydroformed and triple butted tubing as the Pro bikes in the range, and includes features like enclosed dropouts. Features

Moves to standard BMX tyres. Tioga PowerBlock 20 x 1.60 front and 20 x 1.40 rear on Chase Edge 150 double wall 32H rims: the size for a rider starting to hit the bigger jumps.
Disc brake from the factory. A 140mm rotor, mechanical disc calliper and linear-pull lever come stock, the braking setup we predict will become the norm on the track.
Pro tubing, 20.00" top tube. Triple butted hydroformed 6061 T6 alloy, the same tubing as the Pro bikes in the range, with enclosed rear dropouts and an integrated chain tensioner.
170mm cranks, 42 x 16. Chase Edge 3-piece alloy cranks with CrMo chainring bolts drive an Insight 42T 4-bolt ring to a 16T cog, a 49.43" gear on a Euro sealed bottom bracket.
For riders finding serious speed. Full CrMo tapered-blade fork, 6061 T6 alloy 50mm stem, 6.5" rise bars at 26" wide, sealed 3-pawl cassette hub and a QR seat clamp, 8.85 kg without pedals.

Assembly information

Your race bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
Spin the rear wheel and check the rotor runs clear of the calliper
Check the brake and tyre pressure before the first ride

Disc brakes: keep your fingers off the rotor and pads, because oil from your skin contaminates the braking surface and takes the bite away. If the rotor rubs, loosen the two calliper bolts, squeeze the lever, then tighten them again with the lever held on. Bed the brake in with a few firm stops before you race it.

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm spanner for the pedals. Check your axle hardware, since race bikes vary between bolt-on nuts and a thru-axle.

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Between two sizes and still growing? Take the larger size.
Racing gates and wanting the bike to turn faster? Take the smaller size.
Top tube is the number that actually changes the fit, so compare it against the bike they ride now.
