Chase Bicycles have again knocked it right out of the park with their 2023 Edge range. Next in their 20 inch bike line up is the Chase Edge Junior. For 2023, the bike again is offered in two colours and it packs a punch coming spec'd straight from the factory with a disc brake and with what we predict will become the norm for braking. Your young racer will start out on the very best in performance with the frame on the brand's Edge Junior manufactured with the same hydroformed and triple butted tubing as the bigger bikes in the range, and includes features like enclosed dropouts. The part's list mirrors quality like that of its bigger brothers as well, with Chase Edge CroMo forks, Tioga PowerBlock 20 x 1-1/8th tyres and Insight chainring, grips and pivotal mini seat.

With dedicated race geometry and lightweight design, the Chase Junior race bike is just the ticket for the racer entering the Sprocket racing ranks and is biting at the bit to send it down the big hill like the older kids. Features

Disc brake, straight out of the box. A 140mm rotor and mechanical disc calliper with a linear-pull lever come stock, the setup we predict will become the norm for race braking.
Built for the Sprocket ranks. Dedicated race geometry on an 18.75" top tube, for the racer entering Sprocket class who wants to send it down the big hill like the older kids.
Same tubing as the big bikes. Triple butted hydroformed 6061 T6 alloy frame with enclosed rear dropouts and an integrated chain tensioner, plus a full CrMo Chase Edge fork with 1" steer tube.
155mm cranks, 40 x 16 gearing. Chase Edge 3-piece alloy cranks with CrMo chainring bolts, an Insight 40T ring and 16T cog for a 50.98" gear, on a Euro sealed bottom bracket.
Junior-sized cockpit and wheels. Tioga PowerBlock 20 x 1-1/8" tyres on Chase Edge 118 double wall rims, 40mm stem, 4.25" rise bars at 24" wide, Insight Mini Pivotal seat, 7.95 kg without pedals.

Assembly information

Your race bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
Spin the rear wheel and check the rotor runs clear of the calliper
Check the brake and tyre pressure before the first ride

Disc brakes: keep your fingers off the rotor and pads, because oil from your skin contaminates the braking surface and takes the bite away. If the rotor rubs, loosen the two calliper bolts, squeeze the lever, then tighten them again with the lever held on. Bed the brake in with a few firm stops before you race it.

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm spanner for the pedals. Check your axle hardware, since race bikes vary between bolt-on nuts and a thru-axle.

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Between two sizes and still growing? Take the larger size.
Racing gates and wanting the bike to turn faster? Take the smaller size.
Top tube is the number that actually changes the fit, so compare it against the bike they ride now.
