Description

We expect the 2023 Chase Element bikes to likely to sell as fast as the models from the past couple of years with this range from Chase having established itself as incredible value for the racer looking to step up from an entry level bike and onto a race machine capable of winning at state and national level racing. Out of the box, the Element Expert sports components that includes gear like race proven Answer carbon fibre Dagger forks, along with a hydraulic disc brake system. It's the first step in the Element Pro range, a perfect race rig for riders coming up through the ranks from something like a Expert or Expert XL bike and is not quite ready to take the plunge to a full custom, ground up build. Not that the Chase Element will leave the rider wanting for anything with the part's list continues with legit brands like Elevn, Insight and Tioga used for key components on this super quick complete race bike..

With design cues from the top of the range Chase alloy RSP frame series, the Element's geometry has input from Chase's Olympic champion Connor Fields, and 4X USABMX title winner Joris Daudet. The Pro L Element with a 20.5" top tube is suited to the rider jumping up from a expert sized bike who's grown enough to skip the expert XL level, particularly if they are really starting to hit bigger jumps. The 20 inch wheelset with a 20x1.75/1.60 combo will soak up cases that inevitably will happen. It's all part of development and with a little "suspension" built into the bigger tyres, the rider on this bike will progress further and faster than ever before. Especially with the DNA of the Chase brand in every Element.

Even with a little customisation to dial this bike in for the rider, this bike won't lose out to racers on bikes costing two or three times as much as the value for money Chase. You won't be disappointed when you roll down the hill the first time with a massive smile on your face!

Assembly information

Your race bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

  • Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
  • Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
  • Spin the rear wheel and check the rotor runs clear of the calliper
  • Check the brake and tyre pressure before the first ride

Disc brakes: keep your fingers off the rotor and pads, because oil from your skin contaminates the braking surface and takes the bite away. If the rotor rubs, loosen the two calliper bolts, squeeze the lever, then tighten them again with the lever held on. Bed the brake in with a few firm stops before you race it.

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm spanner for the pedals. Check your axle hardware, since race bikes vary between bolt-on nuts and a thru-axle.

Rather have it done? Ask us about extra assembly before you order, or any local bike shop can finish the build for a small fee.

Race frames are sized by class, and the class you ride is set by rider height rather than age.

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

  • Between two sizes and still growing? Take the larger size.
  • Racing gates and wanting the bike to turn faster? Take the smaller size.
  • Top tube is the number that actually changes the fit, so compare it against the bike they ride now.

Not sure? Send us their height and we will tell you what we would put them on.
