The DK Aura 16-inch bike is Designed for growing kids not quite ready for 18-inch wheels. Easier to manoeuvre with right-sized spec, the 16-inch wheel category has become the go-to size for mid-sized kids not quite ready for full-sized BMX wheels. The DK Aura 16 Inch BMX bike has been at the top of the stack and this version stands even taller. Slick looking key graphics on a rad silver finish are a cool new feature that makes this one stand out in the crowd, especially in the sun light. Scaled down components on real-deal progressive freestyle geometry make for a serious-riding bike at a not-so-serious price.

Features

Right size for growing kids. 16 inch wheels cover the gap for mid-sized kids who are not quite ready for full-sized BMX wheels.
6061 aluminium frame. Light alloy tubing with a gusseted top tube makes the Aura easier to manoeuvre without giving up strength.
Real progressive freestyle geometry. A 16" top tube, 11" chainstay and 74.5° head tube angle give proper BMX handling rather than a toy feel.
Fully sealed DK 100 hubs. Sealed alloy hubs front and rear with a 9-tooth driver keep the wheels rolling smoothly and spinning up quickly.
Forged alloy 3-piece cranks. 127mm arms on a sealed European bottom bracket, with a chromoly 25-tooth sprocket driving the back wheel.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

A 16 inch bike suits a rider of about 96 to 122cm, usually 4 to 7 years old, on a 16 to 16.5 inch top tube. It is the size most kids learn to ride properly on.

Sizes overlap on purpose, so personal preference comes into it. At this wheel size the top tube barely changes the fit: go by height, and check they can stand over the bike flat footed.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Between two wheel sizes? Go up. Kids grow into a bike far faster than they grow out of the fun.
They should be able to stand over the top tube with both feet flat on the ground.
