Description

DK Bicycles are changing up the Professional-X range of bikes for 2022 by introducing the army green frame from 2020 as the basis for their DK Professional-X Pro Bike group of race completes. After years of black Professional frames, we're stoked to see this colourway offered as standard as we built a few of these for customers as straight frame swaps, as well as building a couple of customs from the ground up. The Professional-X frame includes a Hydroformed tube set with tear drop and hourglass bridges and the low-profile geometry of each frame size is crafted for speed and stability. With features like internal brake cable routing, tapered head tube

A suite of race proven parts bolted onto this frame carry the speed theme from the bars to the tyres, with BOX One X5 carbon forks marrying perfectly with the tapered head tube of the frame. The 20mm front end set-up of the BOX forks and Duo hub stiffens up the front end to give the rider confidence to rail turns. Other touches include a Promax brake set, Promax QR seat post clamp and a BOX Echelon seat/post combo, leaving you without much to change other than the bar position and swapping in you clip pedals of choice.

We build our fair share of custom bikes hear at LUX and you couldn't build a bike of this level and performance at this price by piecing together individual parts. Solid 10 out of 10 from the race crew here at the shop. Since it's introduction, the Professional-X has raced countless UCI World Cups and USABMX Nationals, and can be seen at tracks all over Australia. This alone tells you it has right stuff to land you on the podium along with elite riders the world over.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

  • Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
  • Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
  • Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

Rather have it done? Ask us about extra assembly before you order, or any local bike shop can finish the build for a small fee.

BMX race bike sizing

Race frames are sized by class, and the class you ride is set by rider height rather than age.

Cruiser (24" wheels)175cm and up21.5" and up

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

  • Between two sizes and still growing? Take the larger size.
  • Racing gates and wanting the bike to turn faster? Take the smaller size.
  • Top tube is the number that actually changes the fit, so compare it against the bike they ride now.

Not sure? Send us their height and we will tell you what we would put them on.
