Description

The DK Zenith bike is back for 2022, and back in black! The Zenith disc frame is the brand's premium race frame, formed from 6061 aluminum, it has desirable features like a tapered head tube, internal cable routing, CNC machined bridges, and forged sliding flat mount disc brake system. This means that the brake is positioned mostly out of harms way from errant front wheels of the kamikaze divebomber looking for glory by taking out the champ! The tapered head tube supports the UCI race proven BOX One X5 carbon forks, complete with a 20mm thru-bolt set up that stiffens the front end up to keep you on line in the fast ashphalt turns. The forks marry perfectly with the stiff alloy frame to give this rig a solid feel that won't be flexing out of the gate. Everyone one of those horses making their way to the Maxxis Torch.

This is one of the best equipped, most dialled Pro race completes on the market, and the team at LUX has built a lot of custom race bikes over the past few years and we know that you couldn't piece a bike together at this price point. Not even close. You'll benefit from the collective knowledge of the DK crew who've been supplying race bikes for elite racers the world over, with geometry that provides a stable platform off the SX hills, and a swag of parts from the likes of BOX and DUO. From the time you grip the bars, you'll know that you've made a solid decision of choosing a 2022 Zenith! This bike will lead you to the podium no matter where you're racing.

Features

  • DK's premium race frame. Hydroformed 6061 aluminium with a tapered head tube, internal cable routing and CNC machined bridges, stiff enough that it won't flex out of the gate.
  • Flat mount disc brake. The forged sliding mount keeps the Tektro dual piston calliper and its 140mm rotor mostly clear of other riders' front wheels.
  • BOX One X5 carbon forks. UCI race proven carbon with a 20mm thru-axle, stiffening the front end so you hold your line through fast asphalt turns.
  • Sealed DUO Brand wheelset. R2 double wall 36-hole rims on stainless spokes, with a rear cassette running 120 engagement points for quick pick-up.
  • Pro L sizing at 8.8kg. A 20.50" top tube, 14.83" chainstay and 11.1" bottom bracket height, geared 44/16 on Maxxis Torch tyres.

Assembly information

Your race bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

  • Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
  • Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
  • Spin the rear wheel and check the rotor runs clear of the calliper
  • Check the brake and tyre pressure before the first ride

Disc brakes: keep your fingers off the rotor and pads, because oil from your skin contaminates the braking surface and takes the bite away. If the rotor rubs, loosen the two calliper bolts, squeeze the lever, then tighten them again with the lever held on. Bed the brake in with a few firm stops before you race it.

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm spanner for the pedals. Check your axle hardware, since race bikes vary between bolt-on nuts and a thru-axle.

Rather have it done? Ask us about extra assembly before you order, or any local bike shop can finish the build for a small fee.

BMX race bike sizing

Race frames are sized by class, and the class you ride is set by rider height rather than age.

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

  • Between two sizes and still growing? Take the larger size.
  • Racing gates and wanting the bike to turn faster? Take the smaller size.
  • Top tube is the number that actually changes the fit, so compare it against the bike they ride now.

Not sure? Send us their height and we will tell you what we would put them on.
