Description

The Hareraiser FX is a fully capable 26" dirt jump bike built around a 100% 4130 chromoly frame: 3/8" axle slots, integrated chain tensioners, a BSA 73mm threaded bottom bracket and ultra short chainstays. The tapered 1-1/8" to 1-1/2" head tube has removable tabs, so a traditional BMX style gyro is still an option.

Fairdale designed it from the ground up to make the transition between a mountain bike, a dirt jumper and a BMX as seamless as possible. That means a 100mm Manitou Circus Expert fork on a 20mm thru axle, hydraulic disc brakes, 170mm cranks with a 28T chainwheel and Maxxis DTH 2.3" tyres, in S/M and M/L sizes.

Features

100% 4130 chromoly DJ frame. Ultra short chainstays and integrated chain tensioners keep the back end tight and the wheel where you set it.
Manitou Circus Expert fork. 100mm of travel on a 20mm thru axle, held by a tapered 1-1/8" to 1-1/2" head tube for a steady front end.
Hydraulic disc brakes. Disc mounts front and rear with a hydraulic lever, so stopping stays consistent when the trails get dusty.
Two sizes, S/M and M/L. 600mm or 625mm effective top tube with 415mm or 440mm reach, on a 69.5° head angle and 690mm standover.
Set up to ride. 170mm 48 spline cranks, a 28T chainwheel, Odyssey Twisted Pro pedals, an Odyssey Big Stitch Pivotal seat and Maxxis DTH 2.3" tyres.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

A 26 inch is the largest BMX wheel, for riders about 160cm and up, on a 22 to 23 inch top tube. It is a ride feel rather than a size step: more roll and stability, still BMX geometry.

Sizes overlap on purpose, so personal preference comes into it. A big wheel rides longer than its top tube number suggests, so do not compare it straight against a 20 inch.

How to measure

Stand against a wall in the shoes you ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of your head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Choose a big wheel for the ride feel, not because you are tall. Plenty of tall riders stay on 20 inch.
Coming off a 20 inch? Expect it to feel longer and more stable, and slower to spin.
