Description

The Carve is a 16 inch BMX bike for little riders who are keen on the sport. The frame is 100% Hi-Ten steel to keep the weight down, with splashes of chromoly through the parts that need the strength: a 4130 chromoly fork steerer and Mission Triumph 3-piece tubular chromoly cranks.

Wide 2.4" Mission Tracker tyres give plenty of grip, and a Mission sealed integrated headset and sealed mid bottom bracket keep things turning smoothly for longer. A 16.5" top tube, 140mm cranks and a Mission Mini lever keep everything in proportion for small hands and short legs.

Features

Shrunk down, built like the big bikes. A 16.5" top tube, 11.25" chainstays and a 74.5° head tube angle give little riders proper BMX geometry to learn on.
Hi-Ten frame with chromoly where it counts. The 100% Hi-Ten steel frame keeps the bike at 10.09kg, while the Kink Circuit fork runs a 4130 chromoly steerer.
Sealed headset and sealed mid bottom bracket. Mission sealed bearings in the steering and the cranks mean smoother spinning and less fiddling with adjustments.
Wide 2.4" Mission Tracker tyres. Mounted on Mission X7 28H rims for grip on rough concrete and dirt.
Mission Triumph 3-piece chromoly cranks. 140mm tubular chromoly arms on an 8 spline axle, with a Mission Rank 25T sprocket and a 9T cassette hub.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

A 16 inch bike suits a rider of about 96 to 122cm, usually 4 to 7 years old, on a 16 to 16.5 inch top tube. It is the size most kids learn to ride properly on.

Sizes overlap on purpose, so personal preference comes into it. At this wheel size the top tube barely changes the fit: go by height, and check they can stand over the bike flat footed.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Between two wheel sizes? Go up. Kids grow into a bike far faster than they grow out of the fun.
They should be able to stand over the top tube with both feet flat on the ground.
