Description

The Meybo Clipper range returns for 2026 and is even sweeter than the previous years. We've been looking forward to these ones as they one of the best value entry level race bikes on offer here at LUXBMX. We love the Meybo brand for its attention to race specific attributes of a complete bike, like frame geometry, plus for 2025, the Clipper comes with a hydraulic disc brake to give the rider plenty of effective, braking power.

Sealed bearings all round means that maintenance time is cut down, and if happen to live somewhere where you race in the rain a lot, then you'll appreciate that these vital components are a little more protected.

This Meybo Pro Cruiser Clipper is the perfect race bike for the rider jumping into BMX racing for the very first time (or returning after a long absence to ride with the kids) with well thought out component specs perfectly matched to this sized frame.

There's not many choices out there for taller riders to buy a race bike straight off the floor and with a 22.25 inch top tube, this Meybo is a saviour to 6 foot and over riders looking for a complete race bike solution to go racing with. You certainly won't feel cramped on this rig and we reckon it's just the ticket for someone like a mountain biker who's decided to give BMX racing a crack.

Features

  • Cruiser sized for taller riders. A 22.25 inch top tube on 24 inch wheels: a race bike off the floor for six foot and over riders who do not want to feel cramped.
  • A good way into racing. Built for the first timer, the parent coming back to ride with the kids, or the mountain biker giving BMX racing a crack.
  • Clarks CH-19 hydraulic disc brake. Plenty of effective braking power, which counts for a lot when you are hauling up a bigger, faster cruiser.
  • Sealed bearings all round. Maintenance time is cut down, and the vital components stay a little more protected if you race in the rain a lot.
  • Geared at 39x17. A 53.88" rollout on SD Pro 175mm cranks, with Vee Speedbooster 24x1.75 tyres on 24x1.75 Pro double wall rims.

Assembly information

Your race bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

  • Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
  • Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
  • Spin the rear wheel and check the rotor runs clear of the calliper
  • Check the brake and tyre pressure before the first ride

Disc brakes: keep your fingers off the rotor and pads, because oil from your skin contaminates the braking surface and takes the bite away. If the rotor rubs, loosen the two calliper bolts, squeeze the lever, then tighten them again with the lever held on. Bed the brake in with a few firm stops before you race it.

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm spanner for the pedals. Check your axle hardware, since race bikes vary between bolt-on nuts and a thru-axle.

Rather have it done? Ask us about extra assembly before you order, or any local bike shop can finish the build for a small fee.

Race frames are sized by class, and the class you ride is set by rider height rather than age.

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

  • Between two sizes and still growing? Take the larger size.
  • Racing gates and wanting the bike to turn faster? Take the smaller size.
  • Top tube is the number that actually changes the fit, so compare it against the bike they ride now.

Not sure? Send us their height and we will tell you what we would put them on.
