There's not many sports where you can jump onto the identical equipment that the athletes at the very top of the game use to compete with, but in BMX racing you can courtest of Meybo and LUXBMX!

Right here you can throw a Meybo HSX Carbon Pro XXL Race Bike into your cart and by the next weekend be shredding the track on the same rig that you can see in world cup finals piloted by the likes of GB's Ross Cullen. We can't promise you'll be as fast as him, but you can experience the level of performance that this carbon HSX Meybo frame offers. 

Based on the 26.5 year colours, this matte black/teal HSX frame is understated, yet dynamically capable of winning races while throwing a huge grin on your face. At just on 8kg, if you've never experienced this combination of light weight and stiffness, you're in for a big treat! This 22 inch frame will perfectly suit anyone 178cm and taller, with plenty of room up front and a long wheelbase to keep it stable on the type of tracks you're likely to be racing on. 

The HSX carbon frame design exudes stiffness, making it extremely responsive, while the low weight contributes to the overall experience of a high performance base. Bolted up to this chassis are SD's newest Sniper SD-X Pro hubs laced into their carbon rims. The cockpit is all oversized SD-X gear, with a CNC'd Pike stem and five degree swept 31.8mm bars. 

We've build plenty of these HSX builds since their release several years ago and without exception, we proselytise about the fixed dropout design incorporating a chain tensioner. Changing gearing or fixing a flat just became as simple and quick as tightening your headset. We love this system and we love how easy overall these Meybo frames are to build and work on. Quality through and through.

Assembly information

Your race bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

  • Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
  • Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
  • Spin the rear wheel and check the rotor runs clear of the calliper
  • Check the brake and tyre pressure before the first ride

Disc brakes: keep your fingers off the rotor and pads, because oil from your skin contaminates the braking surface and takes the bite away. If the rotor rubs, loosen the two calliper bolts, squeeze the lever, then tighten them again with the lever held on. Bed the brake in with a few firm stops before you race it.

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm spanner for the pedals. Check your axle hardware, since race bikes vary between bolt-on nuts and a thru-axle.
