Description

Just because they're your littlest racer doesn't mean they don't deserve a badass ride for their first race bike! The Position One Micro 18 is aimed fairly squarely at the youngest riders out on the track, the racer that's had enough of the balance bike and is ready for more speed and more air by pedalling.

Close you eyes mum, these kids are ready to send it off the gate and the first jump and the Position One Micro 18 is built to handle the rough and tumble of the Under 5 sprocket class with an all aluminium frame and 100% CrMo forks ready for action. It's also nice and light, under 7kg!

With the smaller 18 inch wheel and short 16.15 inch top tube, the Position One has been specifically designed by the same people that design and build the Chase range of race bikes to suit little racers by allowing them to get their feet on the ground, improving and building confidence as they transition to a bike with pedals.

Other key components have been spec'd to increase durability and decrease maintenance. The alloy rims are double-walled which brings increased strength and the front and rear hubs are sealed to repel the dust from the track. 130mm Alloy three-piece cranks and smaller platform pedals all contribute to a package that has all the thoughtful touches of a bike suited for your youngest, and when they've outgrown it, because of the quality of construction, it'll be perfect for your next kid in line for the gate.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Between two sizes and still growing? Take the larger size.
Racing gates and wanting the bike to turn faster? Take the smaller size.
Top tube is the number that actually changes the fit, so compare it against the bike they ride now.
