Description

Redline is back for 2023 with their venerable Proline range of complete race bikes. Seen on race tracks across Australia since the birth of BMX racing here, the Proline name is synonymous with riders looking to step up their race game and for this model year, Redline has added performance focused components like Avid disc brakes, along with the Alloy Formed and Butted Tubed frame.

Tried and tested CrMo is used in the forks and Redline knows its geometry for the expert frame with the Expert frame's top tube fitting right in at 19.5 inches.

Guess who was there at the beginning of BMX? Redline! They've been winning since the 70s with riders like the legendary Stompin Stu Thompson and later on, Aussie Sam "I Am" Willoughby. It's a company that sure knows its riders and how to beat the competition.

Features

Alloy formed and butted tubing. The Proline frame is built from formed and butted alloy tubes, with a 19.5" top tube Redline has dialled in for expert riders.
Full chromoly fork, tapered legs. Tried and tested chromoly out front, tapered so the front end behaves the way a race bike should.
Fully sealed cassette rear hub. Redline aluminium hubs run fully sealed front and rear, with a 15T cassette cog geared 39x15 for a 51.32 rollout.
Two piece 165mm alloy cranks. Aluminium two piece cranks in an external sealed Euro bottom bracket, turning a 39t alloy 104 BCD chainring.
Vee Speed Booster race tyres. 20 x 1.95" front and 20 x 1.75" rear on A-M6 alloy race 32h rims, stopped by Tektro linear brakes.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Between two sizes and still growing? Take the larger size.
Racing gates and wanting the bike to turn faster? Take the smaller size.
Top tube is the number that actually changes the fit, so compare it against the bike they ride now.
