Skyway TA Pro Replica 20In Bike
Since the introduction of the Skyway TA Frame Kits in the early 80’s, nothing has surpassed the genuine look of the iconic tear drop tubing that is TA (Totally Aerodynamic). These are the PRO version Skyway bikes and come complete with an epic parts package that will have all of your old mates red with jealousy! A super-strong Chromoly frame, fork and bar construction gives you the peace of mind that the bike is built to last and the genuine USA made Tuff Wheels will be the talk of the town. Whether you choose to hang this bike in your man cave or shred it at your skatepark - it's up to the challenge!

Now in 2020, Skyway are proud to release the closest design to the original TA, as a frameset and a complete bike. The teardrop tubing has been sourced to make sure these bikes are as original as can be. Each bike is numbered as a collector item and only the most appropriate parts have been used to create that superior TA feel.

Please note: Due to the rim/bead profile on Skyway Tuff Wheels there may be subtle inconsistencies in seating tyres to Skyway wheels. In most cases, it will be impossible to seat any tyre evenly, but hey, they still look old skool cool!
Due to axle configuration, there may also be a small amount of play in the bearing assembly. On occasion the only way to remedy this issue is to slightly preload the bearings. This may cause the bearings to be a little notchy. This is consistent with all Skyway sealed bearing wheels.

Disclaimer: Due to the nature of plastic moulded wheels there may be some discrepancies in edging, colour and consistency. This varies with each pair and are accustomed to Skyway Tuff wheels.

  • The closest thing to an original TA. Teardrop TA (Totally Aerodynamic) tubing sourced to match the original frame kits, with a full chromoly frame, 1" threaded fork and 9.25" Pro bars.
  • Genuine USA made Tuff Wheel II. Flanged Skyway Tuff Wheels with colour coded Tuff Pads and retro Tioga Comp III tyres: the wheels will be the talk of the town.
  • Redline Flight drivetrain. Redline 402 Flight 175mm cranks on a sealed USA made bottom bracket, a 44T Flight chainwheel and a Japanese Izumi 1/2" x 3/32" chain.
  • Japanese made headset and pedals. Tange MX320 alloy headset and MKS alloy Bear Trap pedals, with retro Tri grips and an Aero Skyway seat to finish the period look.
  • Dia-Compe brakes, numbered build. MX1000 calliper rear brake and Tech 3 lever, plus a USA made Flite pad set, on a bike that is individually numbered as a collector item.

  • Note: Tyres may not seat evenly on Skyway Tuff Wheels because of the rim and bead profile. Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

  • Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
  • Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
  • Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

Top tube is measured from the centre of the seat tube to the centre of the head tube, so it is not the same as the length of the tube you can see.

  • A 20 inch bike is the standard adult BMX and most riders end up there, so do not size a tall child down to a smaller wheel.
  • 22, 24 and 26 inch bikes are adult bikes with a bigger wheel, not bigger frames for taller riders.
  • Size up for stability through trails and transitions. Size down if you want the bike quick and twitchy for spins and grinds.
  • Top tube is fixed, but stem length, fork offset and bar position all shift how roomy the bike feels once you are on it.
