Description

Long back end, low bottom bracket and a relaxed head tube: the S&M Rambler is at home on the big lines. Nathan Halahan is Grade A(ape) at riding little bikes on big piles of dirt, and his version of the Rambler is set up to give him the confidence to keep doing it.

Nate's frame runs a 74.25° head tube angle and a slightly shorter rear end than standard. It is built from a butted Thermal-X tubeset, comes in 21" and 21.5" top tube sizes and weighs 2.45 kg.

Features

Long back end for trails. A 13.75" to 14.5" rear end and a relaxed 74.25° head tube angle keep you settled on big lines.
Nathan Halahan's own geometry. Nate's version runs a 74.25° head tube angle and a slightly shorter rear end than the standard Rambler.
Low 11.6" bottom bracket. The bottom bracket sits at 11.6" with a 9.25" standover height and a 71° seat tube angle.
Butted Thermal-X tubeset. S&M's butted Thermal-X tubing brings the frame in at 2.45 kg.
Welded 990 mounts, 14mm dropouts. Chainstay 990 mounts are welded on and the 4Q-Baked dropouts take a 14mm axle, with no gyro tabs.

Frames are sized by top tube length. Start with your height, then let riding style decide where in the range you land.

The height bands overlap on purpose. If you land in two of them, riding style breaks the tie: longer for flow, trails and transitions, shorter for technical street and park. Plenty of riders, pros included, deliberately ride longer than a chart suggests.

How to measure

Top tube is measured from the centre of the seat tube to the centre of the head tube, so it is not the length of the tube you can see. Measure your current frame that way and compare.

Size up for stability through trails and transitions.
Size down if you want the bike quick and twitchy for spins and grinds.
Top tube is fixed once you buy, but chainstay length, stem length, fork offset and bar position all change how the built bike feels.
