Description

The Sunday Primer 16" is better than ever and suits younger riders who already have plenty of tricks up their sleeve. It rides like a pro level bike scaled down to what smaller BMXers need, and Sunday's own geometry helps them adapt quickly as they grow onto bigger bikes.

The parts kit backs that up. Odyssey Springfield U-brakes, a fully sealed 10T cassette hub, an FSA integrated headset and a KMC S1 chain give you reliability you can count on, all rolling on Sunday Current 16 x 2.1" tyres.

Features

  • Pro style geometry, scaled to 16". Sunday's own geometry means younger riders adapt quickly when it is time to move onto a bigger bike.
  • Fully sealed 10T cassette hub. A sealed rear hub on a 14mm axle keeps the drive turning reliably ride after ride.
  • Odyssey Springfield U-brakes. Proper aftermarket brakes with an alloy lever and Odyssey Quik Slic cable, so stopping is never the weak point.
  • 3 piece chromoly cranks, 127mm. A sealed 19mm mid bottom bracket and a 25T steel Sabertooth v2 sprocket back them up.
  • Light and easy up front. A 40mm top load stem, 2 piece Sunday bars and Velo Junior grips keep the cockpit manageable for small hands.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

  • Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
  • Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
  • Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

Rather have it done? Ask us about extra assembly before you order, or any local bike shop can finish the build for a small fee.

16 inch BMX sizing

A 16 inch bike suits a rider of about 96 to 122cm, usually 4 to 7 years old, on a 16 to 16.5 inch top tube. It is the size most kids learn to ride properly on.

160cm and up24"21.75 to 22"
160cm and up26"22 to 23"

Sizes overlap on purpose, so personal preference comes into it. At this wheel size the top tube barely changes the fit: go by height, and check they can stand over the bike flat footed.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

  • Between two wheel sizes? Go up. Kids grow into a bike far faster than they grow out of the fun.
  • They should be able to stand over the top tube with both feet flat on the ground.

Not sure? Send us their height and we will tell you what we would put them on.
