Description

Terrible One Garrett Byrnes Signature Barcode Bike Build.

The Terrible One "Garrett Code" frame could possibly be one of the most iconic "Mid School" frames ever, with only 50 frames being made in each size option (20", 20.625" and 21").
Just as unique as Garretts's own riding style, the frame featured a built in railed seat post with incorporated Marvins Guts, as well built in chain stay guards.

This frame was expertly recondition and re-painted in 2014. 
It was later featured in the Terrible One Garrett Byrnes Barcode/SFA timeline published in 2016.
Bike was assembled late 2014.

Due to the nature of this build, some parts are slightly used but are structurally sound.

  • Iconic mid school frame. The Terrible One Garrett Code frame, with only 50 made in each size, this one being the 20.625".
  • Built in railed seat post. The frame carries a railed post with Marvins Guts incorporated, plus built in chainstay guards.
  • Reconditioned and repainted in 2014. Restored then assembled late 2014, and later featured in the Terrible One Barcode and SFA timeline published in 2016.
  • New old stock parts throughout. Primo, Profile, Odyssey, Alex and Dia-Compe parts, most of them unused stock from the era.
  • Period correct build, 12 kg. Primo Powerbite 175mm cranks, Profile SS hubs, Alex DM24 rims and Primo Dirt Monster 2.2 tyres.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

  • Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
  • Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
  • Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Top tube is measured from the centre of the seat tube to the centre of the head tube, so it is not the same as the length of the tube you can see.

  • A 20 inch bike is the standard adult BMX and most riders end up there, so do not size a tall child down to a smaller wheel.
  • 22, 24 and 26 inch bikes are adult bikes with a bigger wheel, not bigger frames for taller riders.
  • Size up for stability through trails and transitions. Size down if you want the bike quick and twitchy for spins and grinds.
  • Top tube is fixed, but stem length, fork offset and bar position all shift how roomy the bike feels once you are on it.
