Description

The Aerox 16 is a carefully designed and well spec'd 16" bike, made to take a young rider as far as they are willing to push it. It is built from the ground up for the little guys and girls, with a full 6061-T6 alloy frame and alloy cranks keeping the weight down.

Short, responsive frame geometry, scaled down 127mm cranks and a 40mm reach topload stem put everything within reach, and the frame has holes for removable gyro tabs when the time comes. From first time novices to pint sized aspiring pros, the Aerox is a sound place to start in BMX.

About the Brand

Wethepeople BMX began making its mark on history almost 15 years ago. Designing the first rough drawings of their frames and forks around the same time as the world started to see BMX in a different light, a time when rails were first grinded and the possibility that riding the streets was in fact the true way forward. To achieve their aims, Wethepeople knows exactly how to deploy their strengths with an efficiency that is unmatched in the BMX industry.

Features

Full 6061-T6 alloy frame. Light aluminium frame, fork and bars mean a small rider can pick the bike up and throw it around.
Scaled down cockpit. A 40mm reach Salt Junior topload stem, alloy Salt Aerox bars and flangeless Wethepeople Arrow 130 grips, all sized for shorter arms.
Short 127mm alloy cranks. Crank length cut to suit shorter legs, spinning in a sealed bearing Salt Prime BSA bottom bracket.
Front and rear brakes. A Salt AM aluminium calliper up front and an aluminium U-brake at the rear, both on Salt Seed levers.
Ready for a gyro. The frame has holes for removable gyro tabs, so bar spins can come later without a new frame.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

A 16 inch bike suits a rider of about 96 to 122cm, usually 4 to 7 years old, on a 16 to 16.5 inch top tube. It is the size most kids learn to ride properly on.

Sizes overlap on purpose, so personal preference comes into it. At this wheel size the top tube barely changes the fit: go by height, and check they can stand over the bike flat footed.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Between two wheel sizes? Go up. Kids grow into a bike far faster than they grow out of the fun.
They should be able to stand over the top tube with both feet flat on the ground.
