Description

Murray Loubser's signature frame is a responsive, technical street frame. It is butted Japanese seamless 4130 chromoly with hydroformed top and down tubes, an extra thick double butted top tube, box-section seat and chain stay braces, and 1.8mm welding at the head tube.

A short 12.75" chainstay and a steeper 76.1° head tube angle pull the wheelbase in, while a slacker 70° seat tube angle creates a shorter reach. The dropouts use a smaller shape so there is no overhang with pegs, and the wider rear triangle clears a 2.5" tyre.

About the Brand

Wethepeople BMX began making its mark on history almost 15 years ago. Designing the first rough drawings of their frames and forks around the same time as the world started to see BMX in a different light, a time when rails were first grinded and the possibility that riding the streets was in fact the true way forward. To achieve their aims, Wethepeople knows exactly how to deploy their strengths with an efficiency that is unmatched in the BMX industry.

Features

  • Smaller dropouts, no peg overhang. Pegs sit tight against the 7.5mm investment cast dropouts for smoother grinds, with integrated chain tensioners built in.
  • Short 12.75" chainstay, 76.1° head tube. A reduced wheelbase that turns fast and spins up quickly for technical street riding.
  • Hydroformed top tube and down tube. Shaped tubing for superior strength and stiffness through the front triangle, where the frame cops the most abuse.
  • Clearance for a 2.5" tyre. A wider rear triangle and ovalised chain stays make room for a fat tyre and your sprocket.
  • Pivot-3 removable brake mounts. Run a rear brake or take the mounts off clean, with rotor tab holes in the 127mm head tube.

Top Tube Length - 20.75

20 inch BMX frame sizing

Frames are sized by top tube length. Start with your height, then let riding style decide where in the range you land.

Rider heightTop tube
147 to 157cm19.75 to 20.25"
157 to 168cm20 to 20.5"
168 to 175cm20.25 to 20.75"
175 to 183cm20.5 to 21"
183 to 190cm and up20.75 to 21.5"

The height bands overlap on purpose. If you land in two of them, riding style breaks the tie: longer for flow, trails and transitions, shorter for technical street and park. Plenty of riders, pros included, deliberately ride longer than a chart suggests.

How to measure

Top tube is measured from the centre of the seat tube to the centre of the head tube, so it is not the length of the tube you can see. Measure your current frame that way and compare.

  • Size up for stability through trails and transitions.
  • Size down if you want the bike quick and twitchy for spins and grinds.
  • Top tube is fixed once you buy, but chainstay length, stem length, fork offset and bar position all change how the built bike feels.

Not sure? Tell us your height and how you ride, and we will tell you what we would put you on.
