The Round Up - Episode 1

 

Welcome to the very first installment of the LUXBMX Weekly Round Up, where we present to you the very latest news, videos, sponsorship updates, competition/jam reports and all things awesome in the BMX world. 

 

- Woodward Urban Center Sydney Mockups 

 

Kicking things off is some welcomed news that the legendary action sports camp/facility Woodward is expanding its facilities to now offer a Sydney venue, come 2024. Having established in America in 1970, Woodward has grown to now exist in 12 different locations around the world and boasts some of the most impressive action sport facilities ever constructed. The official press release indicates that the facility will be located in Castle Hill and is to comprise a 3650m2 adventure ‘paradise’ over three separate levels, featuring not only a skate park, pump track, mini and mega ramps, but foam pits, bouldering walls, spring floor, trampolines and a gym. Congratulations to those who live in the area, you are officially blessed. For the less fortunate, this is a perfect excuse to organise a road trip!

- UCI Freestyle Qualifiers, Logan Martin 

 

In competition news, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) i.e. the world cycling body, held the 2022 world championships in Abu Dhabi over the last week. Featuring male and female riders from all over the globe, battling it out in both flatland and freestyle park formats, the event is a highlight of the competition calendar. For this years event, Japan’s wild man Rim Nakamura took out the coveted top spot in elite men park with America’s Hannah Roberts the winner in elite female park. Australian riders Logan Martin and Brandon Loupos were hot on the heels with a respectable 6th and 11th, while Sarah Nicki handled the 22nd spot. Congratulations to all those who participated in the event, what a wild place for a BMX bike to take you, all the way to the United Arab Emirates.

Bringing things back closer to home, literally in-store, there are a few updates from the LUXBMX clubhouse. Firstly, we’re gearing up for the 2022 Black Friday sale (November 25) where we offer the wildest deals on a tonne of products across our huge range. Secondly, speaking of our range, the bad boy crew of BMX, ‘Fast & Loose’ have worked up a killer product drop for 2022, which LUXBMX is proudly stocking. Lastly, Pat Johns of LUXBMX ‘Aeterna’, mechanical engineer and gypsy fame is now part of the ever-expanding staff, taking up a customer service role. Finally, to close things out, have a look at the LUXBMX journal to catch up on the events of the recent ‘Nimpinned’ jam which the ‘Fast & Loose’ boys organised while in the midst of an Australian tour. The legendary Nimbin bowl was taken captive last Saturday, attracting riders from far and wide to enjoy the community of BMX in the magical mist of northern NSWs hidden gem, Nimbin.
