Description

Year after year Chase continues to refine their top of the range race bike and this year is no exception! For 2024 the Chase Element is fitted from the factory with Ikon carbon forks and matching coloured decals. This upgrade from the previous years is both a performance enhancement, and an aesthetic enhancement with the Ikon fork seen on the front of the bikes raced by Chase Pro riders Izaac Kennedy and Joris Daudet.

As for previous years there's also a choice of two colours with a cool as a winter's midnight black and grey colourway, and a more look-at-me red wine and sand combo. Based on the previous year's models, the quality of finish will be top shelf and we expect these to sell through quickly, especially this much sort after Expert sized Element. It's spec'd with the correct wheel/tyre combos for this size bike and one check of the specs and you will realise that this is actually a Expert XL frame. With a 20 inch top tube, just make sure your rider is ready for a frame this long.

There is a myriad of tech that comes with these frames that you can read in more detail below, but for starters the Element frames feature Hydroformed 7005-T6 Alloy, Aero system shaped tubing, making for a lightweight, yet strong frame.

The Chase Element is set up with a hydraulic disc brake, providing superior feel and power, while the drivetrain has lightweight LSP cranks driving the Sun Envy/Chase rear wheel.

The package is tied together with a culture of winning with the frame's geometry designed with input from Chase's Pro riders Connor Fields and Joris Daudet. You might wonder how a Pro like Connor would know how to set up a expert sized bike, but he's been winning on a Chase since he was a expert age rider.

Read on and soak up the specifications of the Element range below.

Features

  • Ikon carbon forks from the factory. The 2024 Element runs the same Ikon Pro carbon fork seen on the bikes of Chase pros Izaac Kennedy and Joris Daudet, with matching decals.
  • Hydroformed 7005-T6 alloy frame. Aero shaped tubing keeps the Element light without giving up the strength a race frame needs on the gate.
  • Tektro hydraulic disc brake. The HD-M281 with a 120mm rotor gives more feel and more power at the lever than a cable brake.
  • Geometry shaped by Chase pros. Connor Fields and Joris Daudet had input into the frame design, and this Expert runs a 73° head angle with an 11" bottom bracket.
  • Longer than a standard Expert. Check the specs and you will see this is an Expert XL frame at 20", so make sure your rider is ready for that reach.

Assembly information

Your race bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

  • Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
  • Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
  • Spin the rear wheel and check the rotor runs clear of the calliper
  • Check the brake and tyre pressure before the first ride

Disc brakes: keep your fingers off the rotor and pads, because oil from your skin contaminates the braking surface and takes the bite away. If the rotor rubs, loosen the two calliper bolts, squeeze the lever, then tighten them again with the lever held on. Bed the brake in with a few firm stops before you race it.

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm spanner for the pedals. Check your axle hardware, since race bikes vary between bolt-on nuts and a thru-axle.

Rather have it done? Ask us about extra assembly before you order, or any local bike shop can finish the build for a small fee.

Race frames are sized by class, and the class you ride is set by rider height rather than age.

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

  • Between two sizes and still growing? Take the larger size.
  • Racing gates and wanting the bike to turn faster? Take the smaller size.
  • Top tube is the number that actually changes the fit, so compare it against the bike they ride now.

Not sure? Send us their height and we will tell you what we would put them on.
