Description

The DK Step Up 14 inch is for young riders taking their first real steps into BMX. A short top tube and a lightweight 6061 aluminium frame keep it easy to handle, and the geometry is dialled so progression stays smooth and fun rather than a fight.

It is scaled down but the spec is legitimate: semi-sealed hubs, Wise alloy 3-piece 102mm cranks and a 9T cassette driver out the back. Short reach parts, including a 30mm mini front load stem and a short reach alloy lever, keep little hands and feet in control. This is a real BMX bike, not a toy.

  • A real BMX bike, scaled down. Short top tube and mini sized parts, built with genuine BMX spec instead of toy bike parts, so it rides properly from day one.
  • Lightweight 6061 aluminium frame. Less weight for a small rider to pick up and throw around, with a 1" hi-ten fork with tapered legs up front.
  • 3-piece cranks, 102mm. Wise alloy 3-piece cranks on a sealed European bottom bracket give little legs a short circle to spin.
  • 9T cassette rear hub. A semi-sealed alloy rear hub with an oversized axle and 9T driver, geared with a DK 25T steel sprocket.
  • Short reach controls. A 30mm mini front load stem, 6" rise alloy bars, DUO Brand Mini grips and a short reach alloy lever on a linear V-brake.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

  • Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
  • Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
  • Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.
