Description

This range of Inspyre bikes quickly became a favourite of racers looking to step up from an entry level race bike to a more performance orientated machine, without breaking the bank. We found that the type of customer buying a bike from the EVO-C range has been racing for around 12-18 months and searching for a bike with a carbon fork and disc brakes. The Inspyre EVO-C Pro L Disc Brake Bike ticks these boxes and more.

Starting with the frame that is formed from 6061-T6 aluminium hyrdroformed tubes, the EVO-C is littered with parts from the Forward brand, including the stem, cranks and hubs. Upfront on the Pro L it's a Pride Racing tapered carbon fork taking care of the steering duties, while Shimano takes care of braking. Disc brakes make a whole lot of sense for the young riders that don't yet have the hand strength. They can easily wash off speed, and this braking system is virtually maintenance free.

Whilst Inspyre is a younger brand, there's no doubt that the people behind the Evo series know their race craft, with each size being right in the competitive ball park as far as specs for bars, cranks and gearing on each bike. Our in-house race guru rates and recommends this range based on both price point, and value for money, with a custom ground up build easily costing double the price of the EVO-C to achieve the same performance value.

Features

Torayca T700 carbon fork. The tapered Pride Racing Slik 3.0 sharpens up the front end of the Pro L without pushing the bike into custom build money.
Shimano disc braking, rear. A BL-MT401 lever and BR-MT410 calliper on a 140mm Forward disc wash off speed easily and stay virtually maintenance free.
Hydroformed 6061-T6 aluminium frame. Triple butted tubes and swell forged 3D dropouts on a 20.75" top tube, sized for Pro class racing.
175mm cranks, 42T ring. Forward Joyride AM 2-piece cranks on a 104 BCD alloy chainring, paired with a 16T chromoly cog for pro gearing.
Forward Joyride wheels. Double wall 36H rims on fully sealed hubs with 150 engagement points, wrapped in Tioga FASTR X and Powerblock rubber.

Assembly information

Your race bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
Spin the rear wheel and check the rotor runs clear of the calliper
Check the brake and tyre pressure before the first ride

Disc brakes: keep your fingers off the rotor and pads, because oil from your skin contaminates the braking surface and takes the bite away. If the rotor rubs, loosen the two calliper bolts, squeeze the lever, then tighten them again with the lever held on. Bed the brake in with a few firm stops before you race it.

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm spanner for the pedals. Check your axle hardware, since race bikes vary between bolt-on nuts and a thru-axle.

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.
