Description

The Kink Coast is a 12 inch balance bike for kids with the BMX itch. Hi-Ten steel frame, Conduit fork and T500 bars keep it light at 5.39kg, so a young rider can pick it up, carry it and get back on without help.

The cockpit is scaled down BMX: a 5" bar with closed end bar ends, Mission Micro grips and a frontload 30mm stem. Wide 12 x 2.25" Mission Tracker tyres on X7 rims give grip and cushion, and the Weider combo seat and steel post make height easy to set as they grow.

Features

Hi-Ten steel frame, fork and bars. The Coast frame, Conduit fork and T500 bar are all Hi-Ten steel, keeping the bike light for little legs to handle.
Wide 12 x 2.25" tyres. Mission Tracker rubber on X7 rims gives grip and cushion on footpaths, grass and skatepark flat.
Real BMX cockpit, scaled down. A 5" Kink T500 bar with a Mission frontload 30mm stem, Micro grips and closed end bar ends, sized for small hands.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

A 12 inch bike suits a rider of about 60 to 91cm, usually 2 to 4 years old, on a 12 to 12.5 inch top tube. It is the first bike after a balance bike.

Sizes overlap on purpose, so personal preference comes into it. At this wheel size the top tube barely changes the fit: go by height, and check they can stand over the bike flat footed.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Between two wheel sizes? Go up. Kids grow into a bike far faster than they grow out of the fun.
They should be able to stand over the top tube with both feet flat on the ground.
