Simply put, the Kink Roaster is designed to be a kid’s first BMX bike. The 12” wheel and frame size make it an easy transition from a balance bike and means kids will feel completely comfortable on their first pedaling bike. Once again, this bike isn’t simply a bike with 12” wheels or merely a miniaturized BMX bike. It factors into account standard BMX geometry, and applies them to a younger child’s size and needs.

The Gloss Digital Green colorway really pops while the bike sports some great components throughout. In addition to the 5” Kink T500 bars and 12” Kink Lance forks, the Roaster features a coaster brake in lieu of a lever-based brake system, that could be too difficult for some children to use at a young age. The seatstay bridge has been designed to accept a caliper brake or 990 brake plate for those looking to add a lever style brake as well.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

Sizes overlap on purpose, so personal preference comes into it. At this wheel size the top tube barely changes the fit: go by height, and check they can stand over the bike flat footed.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Between two wheel sizes? Go up. Kids grow into a bike far faster than they grow out of the fun.
They should be able to stand over the top tube with both feet flat on the ground.
