Description

The French brand Inspyre has been gaining plenty of traction in the local race market since launching here early 2022, with the EVO range of complete bikes being popular with those getting a little more serious about their racing who are looking for a BMX race bike that they can jump straight onto and race at a club or state level event.

Starting with a hydroformed 6061 aluminium frame, Insypre have built out these bikes with with quality components from Forward utilised on major parts like the cranks, hubs and the cockpit (bars and stem). Inspyre has plenty of experience with European racers and it shows in the both the sizing specs, and in the geometry on this Pro L race rig.

Trusted manufacturers like Shimano are used for the disc brakes and the Tioga Powerblocks tyres are a staple on race tracks all over the world. There's nothing on this bike that screams compromise as far as its mission statement goes. It's ready to give the young rider the confidence to push the limits as they learn to race and win.

This bike comes in well under half the cost of what it would take to build a custom BMX race bike from the ground up, but it sure isn't half the performance that's for certain. We would probably change out the pedals for a thinner profile set, but other than that, the only other thing you need to add is a number plate.

Assembly information

Your bike ships mostly assembled in the box. Finishing it takes most people 10 to 20 minutes with basic tools, and the video above walks through every step.

  • Fit the handlebars and line them up with the front wheel
  • Fit the front wheel, pedals and seat post
  • Check the brakes and tyre pressure before the first ride

Tools: Allen key set and a 15mm, 17mm or 19mm spanner for the pedals and axle nuts (bikes can vary between these three sizes). A socket is needed if installing pegs.

Rather have it done? Ask us about extra assembly before you order, or any local bike shop can finish the build for a small fee.

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.

How to measure

Stand your rider against a wall in the shoes they ride in, heels flat, and mark the top of their head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

  • Between two sizes and still growing? Take the larger size.
  • Racing gates and wanting the bike to turn faster? Take the smaller size.
  • Top tube is the number that actually changes the fit, so compare it against the bike they ride now.

Not sure? Send us their height and we will tell you what we would put them on.
