Pick the guide that matches what you are shopping for. If you are between sizes or buying for someone who is still growing, email help@luxbmx.com with their height and we will tell you what we would put them on.

Complete bikes Freestyle bike sizing Street, park, dirt and kids bikes. Wheel size by rider height, then top tube. Complete bikes Race bike sizing Micro through to Pro XXXXL and cruiser, sized by class and rider height. Frames Frame sizing Buying a frame on its own? Top tube length is the number that decides the fit. Protective gear Helmet sizing Measured around the head, nothing to do with bike size.

20 inch BMX sizing

A 20 inch bike is the standard adult BMX and suits riders from about 147cm up. At this wheel size the top tube is what changes the fit, so pick that by height.

Sizes overlap on purpose, so personal preference comes into it. If you land in two bands, riding style breaks the tie: longer for flow, trails and transitions, shorter for technical street and park.

BMX race bike sizing

Race frames are sized by class, and the class you ride is set by rider height rather than age.

Heights overlap between classes on purpose. Where you land in two, a growing rider is usually better on the larger, and a rider who wants the bike to turn faster on the smaller. Some brands label the Pro size Pro L, with the same fit.
